Snow Patrol are a Northern Irish/Scottish alternative rock band formed at the University of Dundee in 1994. The group comprises Gary Lightbody (vocals, guitar), Jonny Quinn (drums), Nathan Connolly (guitar, backing vocals), Paul Wilson (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Johnny McDaid (keyboards, guitar, backing vocals). Initially an indie rock band, their first three records, the EP Starfighter Pilot (1997), and the studio albums Songs for Polarbears (1998) and When It's All Over We Still Have to Clear Up (2001), were commercially unsuccessful and were released by the independent labels Electric Honey and Jeepster respectively. The band then signed on to the major record label Polydor Records in 2002.
Snow Patrol rose to national fame with their major label debut, Final Straw, in 2003. The album was certified 5× platinum in the UK and eventually sold over 3 million copies worldwide. Their next studio album, Eyes Open, (2006) and its hit single "Chasing Cars," propelled the band to greater international fame. The album topped the UK Album Charts and was the best-selling British album of the year, selling over 6 million copies worldwide. In 2008, the band released their fifth studio album A Hundred Million Suns, then in 2009 their first compilation album, Up to Now and in 2011 they released their sixth studio album Fallen Empires.
During the course of their career, Snow Patrol have won five Meteor Ireland Music Awards and have been nominated for three BRIT Awards. Since the release of Final Straw, the band has sold over ten million albums worldwide.

Borrrrriiing!!!!!
I listen now to this….and I think of you. I know you think of me too. Even apart, my heart still breathes for you.
God I wish they'd just maintained the tone during the verses for the whole song. The truncated second verse followed by endless repetition of the chorus completely ruins the song IMHO. Why would you waste that amazing guitar lick only to use it 3 times?!
This song helped me through uni when I developed severe anxiety and this (as well as set fire to the third bar) used to instantly calm me. I haven’t listened to it for a while but I’ve found myself here today on a particularly stressful day and immediately it’s calmed me just like it did all those years ago ❤
My dad died much too young, and I played this on loop. It made me cry so much, but it gave me hope that I'd see him again. It's been a long journey, but I can feel my dad around me, with the whisp of the wind, and he is the babble of the brook, his lifeforce still lives on. I can feel his heart in me. He's in my dreams, in those moments in the space where we wake up before becoming fully conscious.
He's all around me, he is nature and he's in all the things I love about it.
He's all around me, he is nature and he's in all the things I love about it.
2023 stil listening

Then we really have to go
You've been the only thing that's right
In all I've done
And I can barely look at you
But every single time I do
I know we'll make it anywhere
Away from here
Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you dear
Louder, louder
And we'll run for our lives
I can hardly speak I understand
Why you can't raise your voice to say
To think I might not see those eyes
Makes it so hard not to cry
And as we say our long goodbyes
I nearly do
Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you, dear
Louder, louder
And we'll run for our lives
I can hardly speak I understand
Why you can't raise your voice to say?
Slower, slower
We don't have time for that
All I want is to find an easier way
To get out of our little heads
Have heart, my dear
We're bound to be afraid
Even if it's just for a few days
Making up for all this mess
Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you dear
