Recycled is the latest album by Culver, an experimental music project led by the British artist Lee Stokoe. Released in 2021, the album features six tracks that combine noisy drones, distorted guitars, and haunting vocals into a unique and immersive sonic landscape.
From the opening track, "Scratch," with its eerie whispers and metallic clangs, to the closing piece, "Rust," with its slow-burning crescendo of feedback and static, Recycled takes the listener on a journey through the darker corners of ambient and noise music. Each track is a sonic experiment in its own right, with layers of sound and texture building and collapsing in unpredictable ways.
One of the standout moments of the album is the track "Waste," which features a hypnotic guitar riff buried under layers of distortion and feedback. The vocals, delivered in a hushed and almost whispered tone, add to the sense of unease and tension that permeates the entire album.
