Review by Ramil Navidad

Valentina Vuksic's album, Harddisko, is a unique blend of electronic and traditional Croatian music. The album features seven tracks that showcase Vuksic's talent as a composer and producer. The opening track, "Harddisko," sets the tone for the rest of the album with its pulsating beats and catchy melody.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Samo Soba," which features traditional Croatian instruments such as the tamburica and the accordion. The track seamlessly blends these instruments with electronic beats, creating a sound that is both modern and nostalgic.

Another notable track is "Kad Se Sjetim," which features a haunting melody and ethereal vocals. The track is a departure from the rest of the album's upbeat tracks, but it showcases Vuksic's versatility as a musician.

  • Upon powering, each harddrive moves with its own speed and pattern, as directed by the firmware and mechanical constitution. Electromagnetic emissions picked up as acoustic signal reveal the specific tone of a drive. In various formations, the harddrives perform according to their past usage and current state.

About Valentina Vuksic

Valentina Vuksic is a computer artist and programmer based in Zürich. Her work is a personal exploration of the possibilities afforded by articulated hard- and software mediation. She approaches computer systems via inductive microphones for magnetic fields, so-called telephone adapters." With choreographies for software and computer elements, she utilizes these as actors in software/noise pieces for, and in, computers. Vuksic considers time and space of computer processor and memory as levels of reality. Software being processed creates own temporal and spatial dimensions, which are staged for a public. She aims for a sensual experience of the analytical sphere becoming concrete, where logic encounters the physical world. The mechanic noises serve as mediators to a public. They reveal in an immediate way the activities taking place between computer processes in the widest sense and the computer electronics they are running on.
