Tommy James! ?
One of my all time favorites!!??
One of the songs by Tommy James and The Shondells that should have been #1. Angelic!!
Too Good X
Used to rattle windows in my room with his song. Loved those AR 3a speakers!
lmaooo imagine not knowing the name of the sun
Classic
The way it was suppose to sound in mono. Thanks
I'm very pleased to know that Tommy James and the Shondells are actually a Christian band and that many of their hits such as this one are Christian songs. Sweet Cherry Wine was about Christians receiving Communion in church. Crystal Blue Persuasion was about his conversion to Christianity. Our Lord has blessed him and his band.
The original vinyl's bass goes down to 30-20 Hz i'd say, which is not present in any digital issues (e.g. from the Anthology album). My dad used to play this 7" in stores for speaker testing ;)
First record my grandfather gave me. I still have it...surprised it isn't worn out as I used to play it over and over and sang to it and recorded on my tape recorder. LOVE this!!
Beautiful, beautiful, ....
Saw Tommy 4x greatest guy ever known him since 1964
I'm 52 years old. My mom God bless her soul bought a Tommy James And the Shondells album for me around the time I was in third grade at a yard sale in Akron OH. It has since and always will be my favorite album not just because she bought it but the music is just flate out awesome
On this day in 1970 {June 14th} Tommy James & the Shondells performed "Ball of Fire" on the CBS-TV program 'The Ed Sullivan Show'.
Seven months earlier on October 4th, 1969 it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #19 and spent 8 weeks on the Top 100.
It reached #8 on the Canadian RPM Top Singles chart.
The record broke a string of three straight Top 10 hits; "Crimson & Clover" {#1 for 2 weeks}, "Sweet Cherry Wine" {#7}, and "Crystal Blue Persuasion" {#2 for 3 weeks}.

este tema me trae muchos recuerdos en lo comienzo de los 70 tommy james
I remember listing to this on the Beach in Edmonds, Washington as the sun set over the Sound on a perfect summers day. It was a big beautiful orange ball decending behind the Olympics. I thought life would always be like that. Boy was I wrong! ha
trrue
I loved everything Tommy James did...but THIS was my personal favorite...I actually have the 45 of this along with Sweet Cherry Wine! Great late Friday night listen!!!!
9/11
I have never heard this song !! Where the hell was I. I lived that time and had my radio on all the time. I like it I just can't remember ever hearing. This is scary. What else have I missed?
Pretty and red, pretty and red
Flowers dyin' in their bed
Oh, yeah
Why is everyone crying, mmm, hmm
Look up children, look and see, shinin' down on you and me.
Shining down on you and me, yeah
And the ball of fire in the sky, yeah
Keeps watching over you and I, way up high
And the ball of fire in the sky, come on
Keeps watching over you and I, way up high
And now the towers are fallin'
Tumblin' down, tumblin' down
Oh, can't you hear the angels callin'
Oh, yeah, listen
Mmm, shinin' through eternity
As it was, so it shall be, yeah
And the ball of fire in the sky, yeah
Keeps watching over you and I, way up high, yeah
And the ball of fire in the sky
Keeps watching over you and I, you and I, yes, it does
And the ball of fire in the sky, come on
It keeps watching over you and I, way up high, come on
And the ball of fire in the sky, yeah
Keeps watching over you and I, you and I, way up high
And the ball of fire in the sky, yeah
It keeps watching over you and I, way up high, ho
And the ball of fire in the sky, come on
It keeps watching over you and I, way up high
