Review by Chaudhery Muzamil

The album "The Nose" by Shostakovich Soloists of the Moscow Chamber Opera, Chorus of the Moscow Chamber Opera and Orchestra of the Moscow Chamber Opera, conducted by Gennady Rozhdestvensky, is a stunning rendition of Dmitri Shostakovich's opera. The album features a dynamic and expressive performance that captures the essence of the composer's work.

The soloists are exceptional, with each singer delivering a powerful and nuanced performance that highlights the complexity of the score. The chorus is equally impressive, adding depth and texture to the overall sound. The orchestra, under the direction of Rozhdestvensky, provides a rich and vibrant accompaniment that complements the vocal performances perfectly.

Listeners will appreciate the clarity and balance of the recording, which allows each individual instrument and voice to be heard with precision. The album is a testament to the skill and talent of the performers, who bring Shostakovich's music to life with passion and energy.

Совсем не то, что классицизм. Современные оперы это, конечно, на любителя.

1:32 That Piccolo was supposed to play a very high C at the end there, but it just sounds... quite funny.

An engrossing and enjoyable production of Shostakovich's satirical opera, which. for this viewer represented certain challenges. However I would have no hesitation in recommending it wholeheartedly. ?
