Love this.
Good version of Albert King's hit.
The late Dennis Walker wrote those lyrics at 2:30 in the morning, him and a bottle of red wine. Cray and Cousins the music. Truth!
Call Big Rita!
Whats a phone booth..lol
Saw him at Glastonbury in 87? Have seen him twice on tour in London, all great gigs ?
Amazing!
great singer song and guitarist ?
This song was playing at one of my family party when i was a young boy in the 80s and i love this song never knew who song this song into 2022. I'm 44 now Dam
Great song!
For most all of the really outstanding Blues and Blues/Rock guitarists Robert Cray sets the standard. One thing they point out every time is how 'clean' he sounds... no 'string music' where you drag your fingertips on the strings as you slide up and down on the neck changing chords. In the face of that kind of precision, he never loses his feel and passion for what he's playing. I've seen him 4x LIVE in a variety of environments and he is always warm, friendly and reliably wiseass in between songs... and then he proceeds to just tear it up - every time. You never get less than his best when he's on stage. On this particular song there's a lot of technique going on to get the sounds he producing in the lead sections. I can understand why Clapton was sort of stopped in his tracks when he heard Mr. Cray play this song.
I heard this song in one of those late night commercials in the 80's trying to sell you a blues compilation album. Decided to look it up tonight, and now I'm here. lol
❤️❤️❤️
If i had money, i would willingly start a police chase while playing this on repeat. Tale the charge. I mean....even police have their price. Otherwise, they wouldn't call it "Charging you with evasion". This song is amazing!

Always underestimated and never duplicated....
Great song??
"I'm new in Chicago, got no one else to call ... callin' you baby, took my very last dime." The guy is beyond cool. So tight funky sound with great vocals, guitar solo and bass.

awesome
definitely should have been in the closing scene of phone booth movie
Favorite party song.
I stood at edge of the Flood City Music Festival stage in Johnstown, Pa. about 10 years ago, and looked up at Cray doing this song just a few feet away from me. Of course, he tweaked the lyrics. "I'm new here in Flood City, got no one else to call." Goosebumps.
Yes!!!!!!
