Pord - Pord

Review by Abhishek Khandal

Pord's self-titled album is a relentless and explosive offering of heavy, distorted guitars and pounding drums. The French trio's sound is a blend of noise rock, post-hardcore, and sludge metal, with a raw and unpolished edge that adds to the intensity of the music.

From the opening track "Staring Into Space" to the closing number "I'm Swimming Home," Pord delivers a barrage of crushing riffs, dissonant chords, and frenzied rhythms. The vocals are equally ferocious, with singer/guitarist Guillaume Marietta unleashing a range of screams, shouts, and growls that match the intensity of the music.

The album's production is intentionally lo-fi, giving the songs a gritty and unrefined quality that suits the band's aggressive sound. Despite the heavy and chaotic nature of the music, there are moments of melody and dynamic shifts that keep the songs from becoming monotonous.

About Pord

PORD started out as a trio in 2002 in the darkest depths of the Lozère / France. The three-pieces output evolved very quickly toward something much rougher and wilder, a powerful brand of noise rock.

Summary by Abhishek Khandal

Pord's self-titled album is a visceral and uncompromising statement of intent from a band that clearly has no interest in playing it safe or conforming to any particular genre. Fans of noisy, abrasive music will find plenty to love here, while those looking for something more polished and accessible may want to look elsewhere.
