Noel Harrison - Suzanne

Review by Sonyo Estavillo

Noel Harrison's album "Suzanne" is a masterpiece of folk and acoustic music. The album features Harrison's soothing vocals, which are perfectly complemented by the acoustic guitar and other instruments. The album's title track, "Suzanne," is a standout track that showcases Harrison's storytelling abilities. The song tells the story of a woman named Suzanne and her journey through life. The album also features covers of popular folk songs like "The Windmills of Your Mind" and "In My Life." Harrison's interpretation of these songs is refreshing and unique, making them his own. "Suzanne" is a timeless album that is a must-listen for fans of folk and acoustic music.

This is not a UK track. It was recorded and released in the US.

Noel's cover of Cohen's Suzanne is terrific, but I still think Judy Collins' version is the very best. It's a wonderful song - one of many written by that poetic genius, the great Leonard Cohen.

I like Noel's windmill of my mind better than all other versions of the song, but I like Cohen's Suzanne better. The speed lacks the haunting and mystic atmosphere of the song and the slow tempo fits the ballad, because there is a story told and the listener should have more time to think about the words or to feel the emotions behind each word.

RIP to Noel Harrison as well (October 19, 2013) I've never heard another version of this song that is as haunting and poignant as Noel Harrison's.

There's a photo of Noel Harrison before he passed. He has an uncanny resemblance to Jonathan Pryce now.
