Led Zeppelin - The Last Day In Mannheim

Review by Jack Ader

The Last Day In Mannheim, the final live performance of Led Zeppelin before their dissolution in 1980, has been hailed as a testament to the band's legendary status in the world of rock music. The album captures the raw energy and virtuosity of their performance, featuring iconic tracks such as "Stairway to Heaven," "Kashmir," and "Whole Lotta Love."

Led Zeppelin's signature style of blues-infused hard rock is on full display throughout the album, with Jimmy Page's blistering guitar solos and Robert Plant's powerful vocals leading the charge. The rhythm section of John Paul Jones and John Bonham provide a solid foundation for the band's dynamic sound, showcasing their tight musicianship and ability to improvise on the spot.

It was my B-day on that gig, of course no money to fly over to Germany to view this, but this definitely suffices for what I missed 43 years ago, suits me fine though, a real present to me though, they still kicked some serious a** on that night. Or, shall I say Das Nacht ? Now there are 224 thumbs up. Dankeschoen fur dis konzert.

I was at that show. I lived in Heidelberg for 5 years, took the train to Mannheim for the show of a lifetime! I had just finished my Junior year of high school. 2 weeks later we moved back to the states. Been in FL since 08/01/1980

My favorite band. My favorite guitarist. I love every one of their songs. Yet, they do my absolute least favorite version of "Train Kept A-Rollin'" by far.

I was there that night. Saw the show while changing units. Reported to my new unit looking like a wreck on the 4th of July (Military Police)!! The show was awesome, raw!

Man it seems Robert had really found his groove in his new voice after the surgery right here.. Some good stuff man .. a true Rocker finds a way back up when knocked down, and to have a voice as distinctive as Plant's was in the early 70s and to lose that then have to get back up there and sing all those tunes in a different vocal register... That must have been absolutely terrifying honestly... Fucking bad ass!! ✌???

IMHO 1980 is better than 1977 as Page's vocals improved and the setlist was better. Though I do miss Sick Again and wish they brought back Zep II songs as well as The Ocean and The Crunge

I love that they would play Hot Dog!! :)
I was there , my hometown,
remember it well ,
almost got crushed to death in front of the stage!
Great night nonetheless!
I have some killer pictures of it ... somewhere.

I was at this concert. I was stationed in Germany with the Air Force. Little did any of us know it would be the third to last concert they would ever play with Bonzo. RIP Bonzo.

Led Zep at their peak was caught in the movie, "The Song Remains the Same"... it's a fantastic show, but, it's a little too vanilla for me, I'd like it a bit more if there were more "mistakes" and possibly less dazed/confused...
I was a little sick of "Stairway" at that time /Radio beat it to Death {although Stairway was beautiful and perfect in THE MOVIE}. I'd trade Stairway for a few "non hits". The band is very polished at that stage /1973/ of their careers, and it shows, it's very good, clean and LOUD.
I'm sure we would all like to make our own show of Zeppelin faves, but, In its absence we have Led Zeppelin Boots to satisfy us right here on you tube. Boots, a heartfelt THANK YOU for all your efforts.
Peace.
This show doesn't have a single song from the second album!

I was at this concert at the Eisstadion am Friedrichspar and still have the ticket stub. It was an amazing concert. A good friend of mine and I saw it. This is so cool to see after all of these years!!! I was stationed at Sembach Air Force Base and we took the train from Kaiserslautern. Thank you so much for posting this!!!
