Ivory Joe Hunter's album, "I Got To Learn To Do The Mambo It May Sound Silly," is a delightful collection of songs that take the listener on a journey through various styles of music. From the upbeat and catchy title track to the soulful ballad "I Don't Want No Substitute," Hunter showcases his versatility as a musician.

The album is a mix of original compositions and covers, all of which are performed with Hunter's signature smooth and soulful voice. The arrangements are simple yet effective, allowing Hunter's vocals to shine through. The backing musicians provide a solid foundation for each song, with tasteful guitar and piano solos adding just the right amount of flair.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Waiting In Vain," a cover of the Bob Marley classic. Hunter's interpretation of the song is soulful and heartfelt, with his vocals conveying a sense of longing and yearning. Another highlight is "A Tear Fell," a ballad that showcases Hunter's ability to convey emotion through his voice.

Cool post, Charles! I didn't know that Rick Stevens was the nephew of Ivory Joe Hunter -- great info! Atlantic had a lot of their artists doing songs about the mambo in this period. The A-side of this single ("It May Sound Silly") hit #14 on the R&B charts; I don't think that sounds silly at all.
