Desperate Living, the fourth studio album by the American metalcore band Horse the Band, is a wild and unpredictable ride that pushes the boundaries of the genre. The album opens with the explosive track "Hyperborea," which sets the tone for the rest of the album with its frenzied guitar riffs, pummeling drums, and frontman Nathan Winneke's intense screams. From there, the band takes listeners on a journey through a variety of musical styles, from the electro-influenced "Murder" to the moody and atmospheric "Shapeshifter."
One of the standout tracks on the album is "The Failure of All Things," which features a haunting piano melody and Winneke's emotive vocals. The song builds to a crushing climax, with the band unleashing a barrage of heavy riffs and pounding drums. Another highlight is "Science Police," a blistering track that showcases the band's technical prowess and intricate songwriting.
