Ms. Gloria Lynne, I remember her as a kid growing up, my mother love her. Time that I was just not feeling good, or just too hyperactive; my mother use too comfort with the beautiful lyrics of Ms. Gloria Lynne. And as a grow man , I still play the beautiful lyrics of Gloria Lynne, I still Love her!!
gloria loved her fans and soon blue label records will be working on some of her work that she would play for me. I deeply miss my friend and her son. Ramesh Sawhney
Her voice was silk, sexy, earthy and soulful!
This puts me in on a cloud somewhere and I don't want to come down. Gorgeous!
Where are today's velvety smooth vocalists? Gloria Lynne -- so much class in the way she wrapped her vocals around a lyric. She knew what words were important, how to pace them, the inflection and phrasing -- perfect. This woman should be a post 50's vocalist giant. The clear opposite of Nina Simone -- but we needed that. We needed opposites to satisfy our ears and moods. Gloria was in a class occupied by Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis, and yes Perry Como -- don't under-estimate how great Como was. Leave behind the silly, novelty hits and Como was a stylist of the first order. But here, with a tune like "I Wish You Love," Gloria Lynne was untouchable. She wasn't under-estimated, she had a long career with many great tunes and performances. However, she did deserve a wider audience and recognition. This song is waiting to be resurrected for a romantic film and Hollywood -- don't hire someone else to sing the song -- Gloria's is definitive. RIP baby. Thanks for sharing your gift.
a classic...
Got here using a link in the NYT. After all these years, this was the first time I've really listened to the lyrics. It's an extraordinary piece. Reminds me of some of the more difficult times of my younger days and brings old regrets freshly to mind.
This is for you, Jennifer--YFM
