Review by Georjuan Taylor

The third album from the British Experimental Rocket Group (BERG), BERG 3, is a sonic journey through experimental sounds and textures. The album is a culmination of the group's exploration of sound and their ability to create a unique sonic landscape.

The album features a range of instruments and sounds, including electronic beats, distorted guitars, and haunting vocals. The tracks are moody and atmospheric, with a sense of tension and unease throughout. The use of repetition and layering creates a hypnotic effect that draws the listener in and holds them captive.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Magnetosphere", which features a driving beat and an ethereal melody that builds to a crescendo. Another standout track is "Black Hole Blues", which features haunting vocals and a pulsing bassline that creates a sense of darkness and foreboding.

Notes

  • The Committee For Sonic Research are pleased to present a third exclusive collection from the sonic experiments and synthetic compositions filed in the archive(s) of the Culture Branch of the British Experimental Rocket Group (B.E.R.G.). A consequence of the deepening relationship between BERG and TCFSR is the revelation that compositions exist that are older than previously realised – apparently the culture branch was working secretively before the schism.
  • Unlike the main archives, which are organised controlled environments and the more haphazard 'cold storage' media, these oldest recordings exist mostly in rumour - we have recovered some boxes buried in a shallow pit in a wood (that we have agreed not to identify). Sadly it seems likely that many of these recordings have degraded beyond recovery. A unit has been created to track the oldest media in an effort to capture as much as possible.
  • Selected tracks and recovered excerpts are being made publicly available for the first time, and for the first time we have been able to include some 'unofficial' works.
