Bast - Bast

Review by Виктор Гаврилович

Bast's self-titled album is a powerful display of doom metal mastery. The British trio weaves together a dark and brooding atmosphere with crushing riffs and haunting vocals. The album's opener, "In the Beginning," sets the tone with its slow and deliberate pace, building to a cathartic release. "Denizens" showcases the band's ability to shift between atmospheric and heavy sections seamlessly. "Far Horizons" is a standout track with its driving rhythms and soaring guitar solos. The album's closer, "The Ghosts Which Haunt the Space Between the Stars," is a haunting and introspective track that leaves a lasting impression. Bast's self-titled album is a must-listen for fans of doom metal and a testament to the band's talent and vision.

About Bast

Project BAST started in 1998 as music studio project initiated by Aldo Ivančić and Vuk Kraković. In 1999, with entrance of the conceptual artist Janez Janša, the project turned into a multi-layer platform for audio-visual experiments, media invasions and forge for artistic guerrilla tactics. Music wised the project BAST is a journey to the urban-pagan trance, that overrides the boundaries of genres in its content and form. It is a melting pot that destroys the artificial borders between cultures and returns to the music as a ritual act. It is not ethno, rock, jazz, techno, hip-hop, avant-garde or pop, but a continuous search for the balance between chaos and order. The project ended in April 2007 with the release of the album "Retinal Circus". The first recording of theirs was on the original ARRHYTHMIA compilation back in 1990. From there, they changed the name to Tel Basta, dropped the overtly scary musical presentation and took up a bit more relaxed vibe.n
