Da dev won that argument
This sounds a lot like Nick Lowe but that's not a bad thing.
I always preferred this to Magnet and Steel. I guess it's the up-tempo beat.
Anyone know where I could find the chords to this song?
?????
This is the first time I heard this, I wonder why it make the top 10?
Kind of upbeat Lobo.:) good
Did I hear Stevie Nicks??
so what if it got elements of bubblegum! sweet! everyone needs a little partridge family in their lives! cmon get happy!
You think it's "Yummy Yummy" and I think it's "Bubble Gummy". I'd druther pass. Guess I've been spoiled by the likes of "Quicksilver" "Buffalo Springfield" "Blue Cheer" "Santana" etc. all with in depth jazz leanings and complex percussion work. You can call me all the names you like. It is what it is. Enjoy.
Look at the photo montage that accompanies this vid. Do you recognize all the California Rockers he is pictured with?
Classic tune great memories
I think that pretentiousness is a strong element of your musical opinions. Any number of Music writers identify Egan's music as being CA Rock. Including the original Rolling Stone Encyclopedia of Rock. Gram Parsons (clearly a CA Rocker) recorded Egan's tune, "Hearts on Fire". Just because you don't like an artist doesn't mean you have to put them down. I don't like Led Zeppelin but I recognize the quality of their music. It's just that Plant's voice is like fingernails on a chalk board to me.
I had composed another reply but, it's not appearing. Egan's music is most definitely CA Rock. For further proof, listen to "When I Get My Wheels" or "Finally Find a Girlfriend". Bubble Gum lyrics are fluffy and trite. Egan's use valid poetic devices, clear imagery and are well though out.
CA Rock went through a constant evolution. It has a very fluid history. Egan's music combines elements of the Surf Sound, Folk Rock and the LA sound. Like ALL CA Rock it is highly melodic and guitar driven.

What you've got here is an even mix of traditional California Rock and Surf music. Egan is outstanding and miles from "Bubble Gum". Sorry you've got a tin ear.
This is most definitely California Rock. Egan's music had a strong Pop influence but, that does not make It "Bubble Gum". Bubble Gum music was style w/o substance. The lyrics were fluffy and trite. Egan's lyrics are well constructed, use valid poetic devices and means and are are well thought out. Grams Parsons recorded an Egan tune, "Hearts on Fire". Are you saying Parsons did not play CA Rock and was a Bubble Gum artist?
I feel very sorry for you. You are pretentious AND have a tin ear.

Well.....I guess there's no accounting for taste. California Rock this is not. HollyPop yes.The "Archie's" were popular back in their day as well. Enjoy watching your "Glee".
