This is my favorite song ??????? from the seventies and eighties of all time.!!!!!
Wasn’t the point of the Tubes to lampoon and parody the pop of the day? The lyrics, like so many of the “power ballads” of say; Foreigner or Journey are silly and intentionally so. And the shouted singing on the outchorus, the guitar solo and the thunderclap all add up to brilliance. As does much of their output.
I was honestly shocked to find Foster was the producer on this. My first guess was Todd Rundgren based on the key changes and complex harmonies. I can’t believe I never heard the song before this week. Absolutely fantastic.
