I lived over 30 years in the Bay Area, raised a family, and had countless lovely experiences in Bay Area hills, Monterrey and Big Sur down to Morrow Bay, Yosemite, Tahoe, Mt Shasta. Came to Virginia to be close to the kids and grand-kids that ended up here ... But I find I miss that city by the Bay, and as a result the song touches me deeply now ... The video brought back so many memories of San Francisco itself and sharing it with loved ones from near and far ... downtown, Powell St. cable cars going up and over the hill to Fisherman's Wharf, walking by the Bay along the Embarcadero, taking in ball games at, what is it now, Oracle Park?... sharing lunch with my wife at the Eclipse at the Hyatt when it still revolved, or with my daughter later when it didn't any more ... or even more recently the cute little botanical garden at the Salesforce building on that quick walk from the Ferry building ... then seeing the skyline, night or day, from Treasure Island, or from the Jack London Sq. ferry to SF/Fisherman's Wharf ... freezing in the cold windy fog that blows in (always wear layers ...), the pics and views from the Marina headlands, walking across the Golden Gate Bridge, Presidio, and up and down the coast ... oh my, the song and video just sends me back and chokes me up ... and Tony Bennett ... wow ... thank you Tony for embracing what must be wonderful moments for so many with your beautiful song and voice ...
