Review by Paul Jordan

The album Peer Gynt Suiten 1 2 by Edvard Grieg Berliner Philharmoniker Herbert von Karajan, Jean Sibelius is a must-have for classical music enthusiasts. The album features two of Grieg's most famous works, Peer Gynt Suite No. 1 and No. 2, performed by the Berliner Philharmoniker under the baton of Herbert von Karajan. The orchestra's exquisite interpretation of the music is a testament to their remarkable skill and passion for their craft.

The album's first suite, Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, is a collection of four movements that perfectly capture the essence of the play. The opening movement, "Morning Mood," is a gentle and serene piece that sets the tone for the rest of the suite. The second movement, "The Death of Aase," is a hauntingly beautiful piece that is sure to send shivers down the listener's spine. The third movement, "Anitra's Dance," is a lively and playful piece that showcases the orchestra's exceptional musicianship. Finally, the fourth movement, "In the Hall of the Mountain King," is a thrilling and intense piece that is sure to leave the listener breathless.

The album's second suite, Peer Gynt Suite No. 2, is equally impressive. The suite is comprised of four movements, each of which is a masterpiece in its own right. The first movement, "The Abduction of the Bride," is a hauntingly beautiful piece that perfectly captures the drama and tension of the scene. The second movement, "Ingrid's Lament," is a melancholy and poignant piece that is sure to tug at the listener's heartstrings. The third movement, "Arabian Dance," is a lively and exotic piece that showcases the orchestra's exceptional musicianship. Finally, the fourth movement, "Peer Gynt's Homecoming," is a triumphant and uplifting piece that brings the suite to a satisfying conclusion.

In addition to the two suites by Edvard Grieg, the album also features a bonus track, "Finlandia," by Jean Sibelius. The piece is a stirring and patriotic work that is sure to leave the listener feeling proud and inspired.
