Review by Lohnnie Green

Symphony No 6 Op 54 by Shostakovich, Sir Adrian Boult, The London Philharmonic Orchestra is a masterpiece of classical music that showcases the composer's skill and the orchestra's talent. The album features four movements that are both powerful and emotional, displaying the full range of Shostakovich's musical abilities.

Sir Adrian Boult, a renowned conductor, leads the London Philharmonic Orchestra with precision and passion, bringing out the best in each musician. The orchestra's performance is exceptional and captures the essence of Shostakovich's music, creating a truly immersive experience for the listener.

The first movement, Largo, sets the tone for the entire album with its haunting melody and dramatic crescendos. The second movement, Allegro, is more upbeat and energetic, with lively strings and brass. The third movement, Presto, is a frenzied and chaotic piece that showcases the orchestra's technical abilities. The final movement, Lento, brings the album to a close with a melancholic and reflective tone.
