Joy Division - Live At The Factory Hulme 1979

Live At The Factory Hulme 1979 by Joy Division is a raw and electrifying live album that captures the band at the peak of their powers. Recorded at the legendary Factory club in Manchester, the album features a mix of classic tracks and lesser-known gems, all performed with a fierce intensity and a sense of urgency.

The album kicks off with the brooding "Dead Souls," which sets the tone for the rest of the set. Ian Curtis' haunting vocals are in top form, and the band's tight, driving rhythm section provides the perfect backdrop for his dark and introspective lyrics.

Other highlights include "Transmission," with its propulsive bassline and jagged guitar riffs, and "Atmosphere," a haunting ballad that showcases Curtis' emotive vocals. Throughout the album, Joy Division's trademark sound - a blend of post-punk, new wave, and gothic rock - is on full display, and the band's energy and passion are palpable.

Joy Division were a British punk/post-punk/new wave band formed in 1976 in Salford, Greater Manchester. They were incorrectly named on the flyer for their first gig alongside Buzzcocks and Penetration but announced themselves as at the start of their first performance. Throughout 1977 they continued under this name up to the recording of the first EP but changed their name to Joy Division at the start of 1978, before releasing their first 7" EP "". Ian Curtis (vocal, occasional guitar), Bernard Sumner (guitar, keyboards), Peter "Hooky" Hook (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Stephen Morris (drums, percussion). Shortly after the suicide of Ian Curtis on the 18 May 1980 following troubles with grand mal seizures (a form of epilepsy), depression, and other contributing personal factors happening in his life the band was renamed , following a pact between all four members made long before Curtis's death that should any member leave, the remaining members would change the name of the group.
