It's worth it to live just to be in tune with the entire universe as Grieg was in this piece, if just for a moment
Hadn't heard it for years until on a recent episode of "Endeavour" on PBS.
I believe that I studied this composition in music appreciation class while in college in the mid-60s. Just a marvelous and evocative piece.
Frieden! Peace! Мир! Frieden! Peace! Мир!

A patient was watching an old school Spanish soap pera and I swear the intro to this song was being played
Fairy Fountain 3:13 & 8:00
He's playing all the right notes......
The Adagio...when the cello softly pours in, then the clarinet floats high up top, then the french horn softly mourns, and finally a single piano note, that's when I just burst into tears every time.
I used to start every morning on the long bus ride to school with this piece, every single morning, half asleep and dreaming of such beautiful stories as the music played in my ears through the headphones. Many years later the piece with its magnificent highs and lows still reminds me of self-assured teenaged bravado softened by tragic, desperate heartbreak. Alternating between wistful and frantic and triumphant and broken, swelling with a powerful and dramatic emotionality. I can almost see the same stories play out, if I close my eyes. There is no music more beautiful than this, that ever was or will be.
Wow!... w=who knew Mark Twain wrote classical... cool.
The awful thing is, whenever I listen to this, I can only ever hear the Eric Morecambe version ? ?? Sorry, Grieg, but this just does not compare to Eric's musical genius & Andre Previns skills as a conductor ???❤
Esto es lo máximo en música clásica.

And till this day in 2021 I think it is the single BEST interpretation of this piano concerto.

The bane of my existence on Earth...a piece that strikes at your heart and you never find out the name...or the composer.
