Elvis said "Heartbreak Hotel" reminded him of this song that he loved. I see it.
So there's no way everyone can know every great song in the world. I'm proud to have came across this for the first time today. Thanks to the man who was blasting this from his pick up truck...
Another masterpiece of Roy Brown in 1950 (THE man of « Good rocking tonight » in 1947 !), stolen by Elvis Presley in 1956 (Heartbreak Hotel, with new words & a stupid legend about it). It is all the more a scandal that Presley's plagiarism was ranked 45th greatest song of all time by Rolling Stone magazine in 2003 : LOL ! LOL ! LOL ! (This stupid name newspaper obviously doesn't know who Roy Brown is !)
Roy Brown goes hard asf, ngl
The dirtiest lowdown blues imaginable. His voice in unreal--- powerful, yet silky. Proves that to make an impact, you don't necessarily need the larynx-shredding vocals of an Elmore James. ( And I speak as an Elmore fan) .
Jackie Wilson I see where you get it from.
Precursor to Heartbreak Hotel but the way he's singing this preceded soul music. Lots of artists from Clyde McPhatter to Jackie Wilson, Little Willie John to Ray Charles, Little Richard to James Brown took after from Roy.
The main beat and the lyrical subject of this great blues song for sure inspired Heartbreak hotel writers todo a similar song!
