The release is the RCA Soria Series MET 9, which includes two operas by Richard Strauss. Salome was recorded on January 19, 1951 and Elektra was recorded on February 23, 1952. This was the ninth in the series of gifts to those who gave $125 to The New York Metropolitan Operan in 1981. The release contains a booklet which details historic performances and singers of these operas at the Met. It highlights the singers and conductor and recording methods of these mono-records.
