British Psychedelic Indie Rock outfit, formed in 1986 in St. Helens, Merseyside.
Various members of the band had played separately in a number of punk bands in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Emerald Greenshade, Victor Davros Vibeskin, Phil ZaPeep, and 'Bone' played in Subversion circa 1979, whilst in 1982 Jefferson Jesu Devil, Katmandu, Victor Davros Vibeskin and Emerald Greenshade formed a band called The Aristocrats. At the same time, Tjunca B Low, Professor Bubblekeys and 'Flimb' formed the and released their 12".
Influenced by a myriad of media sources including space rock pioneers and 's 1974 Science Fiction film Zardoz, P.E.H. was described by the NME as " playing early ". The group was particularly distinctive in the early 1990s due to the fact that its members wore latex and fiberglass "death-masks" during live performances, whilst album art featured artwork similar to (and often mistaken for) the paintings of H.R. Giger. Crafted by guitarist 'ZaPeep', both of these elements were jettisoned circa 1997 as it was believed that they were a barrier between the band and better things.
Poisoned Electrick Head split up in 1998, although just over a decade later the band began recording and performing once more, appearing at the 2009 Blackpool Rebellion festival.
