Mono’Kiri is actually one girl: Caroline Werbrouck.
Caroline got obsessed by music when her brother took her to a movie from ‘The Who’ at the age of eleven and never got rid of that obsession again. She used to write several years for a Belgian magazine called ‘RifRaf’, doing interviews and writing reviews about punk rock and underground bands.
But than she found out making music herself was much more fun so she decided to play the guitar and joined "Not Yet, The Clitpunkinvasion" in 1998. Four years later, she founded the punk/garage Band "Hara’Kiri" and when she met Suspiria Franklyn from the Portuguese band ‘Les Baton Rouge’ in 2005, they hooked up in Berlin and formed the electropunk band Suspicious. With these bands she toured all over Europe and the USA, including a major act at CBGB’s and a whole episode dedicated to her at Team Spider Television in Manhattan!
Buying a laptop and learning how to work with Cubase, led to her solo project "Mono’Kiri", which is quite different than Hara’Kiri, more quiet and subtle with No Wave and electro influences. In May 2006 she re-recorded 13 songs with a little help from her friends Craig Ward (The Love Substitutes, dEUS,..), Dave Schroyen (Millionaire, Creature With The Atombrain) and Luc Waegeman (Needle & Pain Reaction, Starfighter). This album ‘Surviving On Dreams & Casual Sex’ will be released by Kinky Star on 30 October 2006!
