Massive Attack - Eleven Promos

Review by Mona Bernardo

Massive Attack's Eleven Promos is a stunning album that showcases the band's unique blend of trip-hop and electronic music. The album is a compilation of eleven music videos that were released between 1991 and 1998, and each track is accompanied by a visually stunning video that perfectly captures the mood and atmosphere of the music.

The album features some of Massive Attack's most iconic tracks, including "Unfinished Sympathy," "Risingson," and "Teardrop," which was famously used as the theme music for the TV show "House." Each track on the album is a masterpiece in its own right, with intricate beats and haunting melodies that are sure to captivate listeners.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Karmacoma," which features a mesmerizing video that combines live footage with animation to create a surreal and dreamlike atmosphere. Another highlight is "Protection," which features the soulful vocals of Tracey Thorn and a jazzy, laid-back groove that is perfect for a lazy afternoon.

Collaborative British music production group from Bristol, England. The band currently consists of Robert Del Naja, Tricky, and Daddy G. The original lineup also included Andrew Vowles. The group name is taken from a slogan sprayed by New York graffiti artist 'Brim', who sprayed 'Massive Attack' underneath a 'piece' in Bristol, UK in 1985. 'Brim', along with 'Balogun' and 'Bio' were part of the TATS CRU from NYC who sprayed a 'piece' each together at the Malcolm X Centre, St. Paul's in Bristol. , who was an upcoming graffiti artist at the time, with the tag 3-D, has stated that he/they had adopted the slogan initially as a name for a record label, and then later took it on as a band name. During the 1991 Gulf War the group name was shown on some releases as 'Massive' in order to maintain airplay after pressure from the British Government on radio programmers.

This brings back so many memories of the past when things were more different pure and simple without any second thoughts and without any serious problems sometimes I wish I could turn back time to live exactly the same things without changing anything........

Lyrics

[Verse 1: Nicolette]
I try to believe what I feel these days
It makes life much easier for me
It's hard to decide what is real these days
When things look so dizzy to me

[Pre-Chorus: Nicolette]
I already know my children's children's faces
Voices that I've heard before
There's always more
There's always more

[Chorus: Nicolette]
Wondering, leaving the sea behind
To my home which everybody owns
Wondering, wandering
Where we can do what we please, wondering

[Verse 2: Nicolette]
I feel like a thousand years have passed
I'm younger than I used to be
I feel like the world is my home at last
I know everyone that I meet

[Pre-Chorus: Nicolette]
Somewhere in the music I can hear the bells
I heard a thousand years before
There's always more
There's always more

[Chorus: Nicolette]
Wondering is this there all there is
Since I was since I began to be?
Wondering, wandering
Where we can do what we please, wondering

you gotta love trip hop. all these years later and doesn't sound aged at all. at least to my ears. in a perfect world this sound would dominate the charts.

007 like, but too many non europeans, I do not like that. Even the naja main producer used two africans to pretend it was a trio.

It feels when you listen to the music of Massive Attack through the years, the meaning becomes deeper and deeper. Seeing you live was already the most beautiful trip. The water, the start of creation, the creatures belong to the one Ocean. Life is like being an avatar choosing a new body everytime you die in this game. Keep on wandering through these levels.. until.. we become 1 again with the 0cean.
