Eminem - Recovery

deljenyle

Review by Tinuoye Bamidele

Eminem's album Recovery is a powerful, introspective work that showcases the rapper's growth and maturity as an artist. The album features a range of styles and emotions, from the intense, hard-hitting tracks like "Not Afraid" and "Won't Back Down," to the more introspective and vulnerable songs like "Space Bound" and "Love the Way You Lie."

Throughout the album, Eminem's lyrics are raw and honest, exploring his struggles with addiction, relationships, and fame. The production is top-notch, with a mix of hard-hitting beats and emotive instrumentals that perfectly complement Eminem's lyrical content.

Relapse won a Grammy and flew off shelves. Despite that after initial shine wore off Eminem only appeared more obsolete in the rap game. It appeared that his ability to sell may not be damaged but his ability to dominate the game had vanished. Then Not Afraid dropped. Marshall was back.It was impossible to escape this song if you wanted to. A major departure for Eminem, the first time his lead off single wasn't a comedy track, Eminem sounded involved for the first time in 7 years and everyone loved it, as it shot up to number one and was one of his highest selling singles. What can we say, from Stillmatic to The Blueprint hip-hop loves a good comeback, an artist who went soft and started clawing his way back to the top.Eminem followed up with Recovery and it is filled to the brim with Not Afraid 2.0's. This album is destined to be played at gyms all over the world as it is stuffed with anger/inspirational numbers. Despite it's repetition it works phenomenally. The main reason this works is thanks to Eminem who COMPLETELY sells it, you believe every word he says and you can't help but root for him. He's an excellent technical rapper and he shows it off here, condemning everyone who gave up on him and he just sounds soooo good letting out his frustrations. For the first time in years Eminem sounds like he's the best MC in the world and we're all glad to hear it. Just listen to No Love or Cinderella Man for some premier examples of this. Once every while he steps out of this mold and this also leads to some of the highlights, most notably being his honesty during Talkin to Myself, or reflecting on Proof's death on You're Never Over. The main issue with the album is the production. The majority of it isn't bad by any stretch but it all kind of blends together and rarely stands out. This is good when Eminem is spitting fire like he is for much of the album, but if he relies on the production to save him at all it falls. Not Afraid is still a decent track but when you find out it's produced by Boi-1da it's disappointing how simple the production is when you consider how good his production is with Drake. Recovery also shows us how out of it Dre is, since he only produces "So Bad" and that fails to stand out. Producing is clearly a side interest for the once revolutionary figure. The collaborations with pop singers also don't work. Pink doesn't sound interested and Love the Way You Lie is my least favorite track on the album, due to Rihanna delivering terrible singing and the production being utterly dull. Other than the Lil Wayne feature, Em is better off with unknown featuring artists. This has also unfortunately led to Eminem finding the formula to radio success that he has no problem abusing. 1- Angry/inspiration lyrics, 2-Pop Singer on Chorus, 3-Profit (The Monster, Love the Way You Lie, Guts Over Fear, Headlights, Kings Never Die, Lighters, etc.) But at THIS point it sounded wonderful, the comeback we all wanted Eminem to have.
Alguém em 2023 ouvindo esse Hino?

Just gonna stand there and watch me burn?
Well, that's alright, because I like the way it hurts
Just gonna stand there and hear me cry?
Well, that's alright, because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
I can't tell you what it really is
I can only tell you what it feels like
And right now, there's a steel knife in my windpipe
I can't breathe, but I still fight while I can fight
As long as the wrong feels right, it's like I'm in flight
High off of love, drunk from her hate
It's like I'm huffing paint and I love her, the more I suffer
I suffocate and right before I'm about to drown
She resuscitates me, she fucking hates me
And I love it, "Wait
Where you going?" "I'm leaving you"
"No you ain't, come back"
We're running right back, here we go again
It's so insane 'cause when it's going good, it's going great
I'm Superman, with the wind at his back, she's Lois Lane
But when it's bad, it's awful
I feel so ashamed, I snapped, "Who's that dude?"
I don't even know his name, I laid hands on her
I'll never stoop so low again, I guess I don't know my own strength
Just gonna stand there and watch me burn?
Well, that's alright, because I like the way it hurts
Just gonna stand there and hear me cry?
Well, that's alright, because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
You ever love somebody so much you can barely breathe when you're with 'em?
You meet, and neither one of you, even know what hit 'em
Got that warm fuzzy feeling, yeah, them chills, used to get 'em
Now you're getting fucking sick of looking at 'em
You swore you've never hit 'em, never do nothing to hurt 'em
Now you're in each other's face
Spewing venom in your words when you spit 'em
You push, pull each other's hair, scratch, claw, bit 'em
Throw 'em down, pin 'em, so lost in the moments when you're in 'em
It's the rage that took over, it controls you both
So they say you're best to go your separate ways
Guess that they don't know ya 'cause today, that was yesterday
Yesterday is over, it's a different day
Sound like broken records playin' over
But you promised her, next time you'll show restraint
You don't get another chance, life is no Nintendo game
But you lied again
Now you get to watch her leave out the window
Guess that's why they call it window pane
Just gonna stand there and watch me burn?
Well, that's alright, because I like the way it hurts
Just gonna stand there and hear me cry?
Well, that's alright, because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
Now I know we said things, did things that we didn't mean
Then we fall back into the same patterns
Same routine, but your temper's just as bad as mine is
You're the same as me, when it comes to love, you're just as blinded
Baby, please come back, it wasn't you
Baby, it was me, maybe our relationship isn't as crazy as it seems
Maybe that's what happens when a tornado meets a volcano
All I know is I love you too much to walk away though
Come inside, pick up your bags off the sidewalk
Don't you hear sincerity in my voice when I talk?
Told you this is my fault, look me in the eyeball
Next time I'm pissed, I'll aim my fist at the drywall
Next time? There won't be no next time
I apologize, even though I know it's lies
I'm tired of the games, I just want her back, I know I'm a liar
If she ever tries to fucking leave again
I'm a tie her to the bed and set this house on fire
Just gonna stand there and watch me burn?
Well, that's alright, because I like the way it hurts
Just gonna stand there and hear me cry?
Well, that's alright, because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie

Deim em I feel you but now I don't feel nothing distance kills love . And shows me the truth in them that on my hard I cannot count on them so shows me not to go so far for them. Will always go far for my partner but not for my ex . The disappointment and the resentment.. shucks when you think that was the one but hey its life MOM did it to show me who she really was. But I will always care for her . And I know my mistakes so I won't do them with my future wife. ?
