Martyr - Havoc In Quebec City

Review by Stefan Walczynski

Havoc In Quebec City, the latest album by the Canadian metal band Martyr, is a tour de force of intense musicianship and powerful songwriting. From the opening track, "Force Fed," to the closing epic "Nipsky," the album delivers a relentless barrage of thrash and progressive metal that will leave listeners breathless.

The band's technical prowess is on full display throughout the album, with intricate guitar riffs, lightning-fast drumming, and soaring vocals that are both aggressive and melodic. The songs are complex and dynamic, with shifting time signatures and unexpected changes that keep the listener engaged from start to finish.

Lyrically, the album is as intense as the music, with themes of social and political injustice, personal struggle, and the human condition. The band's message is delivered with a raw and honest intensity that is both cathartic and empowering.

Yeah, I have to say that Martyr are far better than I ever expected. I love Dan Mongrain with Voivod! He still pushes Martyr as a band he was with and I don't blame him. They are f**king unreal, and just plain incredible!

I will say it and say it again, metal stopped progressing when Martyr called it quits. Metal is essentially dead. Please Martyr pick up the helm and giver one mo gain’ who cares if the drummer is an asshole or whatever, the guy is the best drummer for you, so suck it up and for the sake of music, commence in the slaying!

Dan Mongrain is a monster. Amazing performance. Rest of the band is top notch. Martyr is so underrated and so are their friends of Obliveon. So many shit DM bands out there. Can't believe those 2 bands did not get more attention. Elite Metal.
