Girls Play - Airhead

Review by Elan Chalford

The album Airhead by Girls Play is a dazzling display of musical prowess and creativity. The band's unique sound blends elements of indie rock, pop, and electronic music to create a truly unique listening experience. From the opening track "Dreaming in Color" to the closing notes of "Take Me Away," every song on the album is a standout in its own right.

The vocals on Airhead are particularly impressive. The lead singer's voice is both powerful and vulnerable, able to convey a range of emotions with ease. The harmonies and backing vocals are also noteworthy, adding depth and texture to the songs.

The instrumentation on the album is equally impressive. The band makes use of a variety of instruments, including guitars, keyboards, and drums, to create a rich and dynamic sound. The electronic elements are also well-integrated, adding a modern edge to the music.

Girls@Play were a British short-lived girlband formed by Lisa-Jayne White (Executive), Rita Simons (Mechanic), (NY Traffic Cop), Vicky Dowdall (Cowgirl) and Shelly Nash (Pilot). The group released two singles, 'Airhead' on February 12, 2001 and a cover version of 'Respectable', originally by Mel and Kim, on October 1, 2001. The first single reached #18 and the second reached #29 in the UK Top 40 chart. They also supported Hear'Say and Steps on their arena tours in 2000/2001. After the singles fail to reach the top of the charts the band decided to split up in November 18, 2001.
