John Mayall's Bluesbreakers have released yet another masterpiece, the album Cables Pelados. The album is a perfect blend of blues and rock, with Mayall's signature harmonica playing and soulful vocals. The guitar work on the album is exceptional, with Mick Taylor and Walter Trout both contributing their unique styles to the tracks.
The album features a mix of original songs and covers, with each track showcasing the incredible musicianship of the band. The opening track, "Gimme Some of That Gumbo," sets the tone for the album with its infectious groove and catchy lyrics. Always one of my favs. Mayall was king of English blues. Got so many people started.
I was just an 18-year-old kid transitioning from high school to college and had a Strong yearning for music that was so much more than the standard Beatles pop, or the rest of rock and roll.
So I took a stab and bought Bare Wires shortly after it was released.
Opened my eyes and stretched my horizons to the max.
I have Loved "I'm a Stranger" ever since then, '68, and it remains one of my top three favorite songs of All Time.
John is alive, 78-79, and still performing.
May he go on Forever....

I first heard this song 50 years ago and fell in love with it (among many others by John, but each one individually and on its own merits). Tonight, 3/14/18, this song came into my head unbidden (admittedly, after a lengthy session of listening to old James Brown classics). Love you, John Mayall!!!
Bare wires contains so many style-defining elements; for me it is one of the most important albums of this era and it still brings a smile to one's face even after more than 50 years.
The best 23 minutes of my life, every time i listen. What a journey
Had this album and saw Mayall in the early 70's plus ten years ago at a Topanga Canyon fest where he was going strong at 80'ish. Laurel Canyon my favorite
monday, 10th june 1968........Cooks Ferry Inn, Edmonton..................they played this album.....and I was there......................fuckin' magic..............;)
