Review by Alexander Snehotta von Kimratshofen

Nova Dança, the latest album by Brazilian musician João Callado, is a mesmerizing blend of traditional Brazilian rhythms and modern electronic elements. Callado's mastery of the guitar is on full display throughout the album, as he effortlessly navigates intricate melodies and complex chord progressions.

The opening track, "Samba de Amor," sets the tone for the album with its upbeat tempo and infectious groove. Callado's guitar work is complemented by the smooth vocals of guest singer Maria Gadú, creating a perfect fusion of classic and contemporary sounds.

Other standout tracks on the album include "Baião de Dois," a lively dance tune featuring the accordion playing of Chico Chagas, and "Cantiga Pra Ninar," a hauntingly beautiful lullaby that showcases Callado's delicate fingerpicking style.

Throughout the album, Callado demonstrates an impressive range of musical styles and influences, from the traditional rhythms of Northeastern Brazil to the jazz and funk-inspired grooves of the title track, "Nova Dança."
