Review by Patrick Gillooly

Per Elisa La Campanella is a classical album by Hungarian pianist Gyorgy Cziffra. The album features some of the most iconic piano pieces by composers such as Beethoven, Liszt, and Chopin.

Cziffra's virtuosic piano playing is on full display throughout the album, showcasing his technical prowess and musical sensitivity. The album opens with Beethoven's "Für Elise," a piece that is instantly recognizable and beautifully rendered by Cziffra's delicate touch.

The album also includes Liszt's "La Campanella," a notoriously difficult piece that Cziffra handles with ease. His interpretation of Chopin's "Fantaisie-Impromptu" is also a standout, with Cziffra's nimble fingers bringing out the piece's intricate melodies and rhythms.

So relaxed. I did never expected such expression. Cziffra is the real virtuoso, indeed.

Zonder vingerzetting van 't janneke ?
Dat kan niet!

Wellicht daarom dat 't janneke Cziffra "ne klungelaar" noemde, omdattem zen vingerzetting niet had...

As they show us another side of Cziffra we're used to, it's a pity he didn't continue recording this kind of 'easy' pieces.

A cordial greeting,

A real inspiration to amateur pianists who have studied this little gem. Cziffra recorded a number of these short 'easy' pieces back in the 1950s when he was at the height of his fame. He plays Mendelssohn's Spring Song and Grieg's Papillons beautifully too.

Oh, so smooth, so fine, so perfect. This is what a master does, makes it soud easy and simple.

I agree- this version is very beautiful and very unusually restrained for the virtuoso such as Cziffra.
