G F Händel - Wassermusik

I grew up with this recording ! If I remember right , it was a light coloured cover with not too strong blue letters and it had the Philips label … It was one of our best loved Discs in my parents house , we even made a casette recording to be able to listen to it in the car ( I´m talking of the late sixties and the seventies … ) . Today , though there are some other performances I appreciate , too , it still is my favoured Händel Watermusic . Great !

Refrained from listening for a long time (it was hopelessly 'overplayed' in Europe) but, coming back to this extraordinary rendition, surely helps 'rekindle' my taste for it. Very beautiful ~ thank you !

Does anyone remember this recording on a translucent red disc? In a sort of gray or very light beige album cover? I'm 99.9% sure this is the recording. I love and agree with the comment by "Grenadier" about awakening from a nightmare of awful, jerky "historical" performances...!

This is like awakening after a nightmare of historical performances. Slower tempo, modern instruments and brilliant conductor. Now I'm adding van Beinum to Richter, Klemperer, Munchinger, Ristenpart. I'm still searching for more of them to avoid sickness and boredom.

The sound quality is amazingly high with astoundingly wide dynamic range. A stereophile's dream record in the late 50s.
