The group was born in 1994 from the ashes of the musical formation Cuori Infranti, led by Milanese singer Cinzia Farolfi and Turin musician Davide Bosio as arranger and co-writer of the songs. Cinzia Farolfi, prior to her experience with Cuori Infranti, had already embarked on a recording career, recording first under the pseudonym Cynthia and then under the pseudonym Cynthia Farrol. The Broken Hearts had made a name for themselves with the radio hit entitled Seeking a Boyfriend in 1989, which was followed by the release of an album entitled Non siamo facili.
In 1991 they had participated in the Girone Giovani of Ezio Radaelli's Nuovo Cantagiro (aired during the summer on Sunday afternoons on Raidue) with the song entitled Giuri tu, achieving a fair amount of success and making themselves known to the general public; the group had won acclaim in the squares where the event was held, but when the recording contract with Wea ended, the Cuori Infranti project had also ended.
The band, varying some elements, transformed into the Cattivi Pensieri, with a new record contract. The new band's first album, of the same name, was released by EMI in 1994, and two successful singles were extracted from the LP: Dimmelo tu, already presented at Sanremo Giovani 1993, and Non mi piace.
However, the real success comes in 1996 with the release of the single Emozione, contained in the second album Un'incredibile storia, and it is with this song that Cattivi Pensieri reach important professional milestones: they win the Giovani section of Un disco per l'estate 1996, obtain the gold disc and enter the big category of the 1997 Sanremo Festival.
The song Quello che sento, written in collaboration with Davide De Marinis, was presented at the Festival and came 16th in the final ranking of the song festival.
The release of the single very shortly preceded the release of the band's third and final album, La Scatola, from which two more songs were extracted: Inconquistabile and Ancora Io, Ancora Tu.
During the official tour, organized after the participation in the Festival, rumors of a crisis (apparently of a discographic nature) turned into certainties: some members decided to take independent professional paths and, in order not to interrupt the tour, other elements had to be hired as replacements: thus, thanks to Charly Cartisano, a drummer coming from the group Lijao, keyboardist Luca Mattioni and with a makeshift bass player the concert schedule and television promotion were completed.
In 1998, after a period of silence, part of the band gets a small role in the last episode of the Mediaset drama "Squadra Mobile Scomparsi." An unreleased song, Penso, written and performed by singer Cinzia Farolfi, is performed in the episode. The song is considered by fans to be the anticipation of a new recording effort, which, however, will never see the light of day.
In 1999, the surviving Farolfi-Bosio duo actively collaborates on the recording debut of young ex-collaborator Davide De Marinis, hinting at a reunion of the group that will never come: in fact, Cattivi Pensieri officially disbanded in 2000.
