Frankie Laine - N2

acabrel

Review by Albert Cabrel

N2 by Frankie Laine is a must-listen for fans of classic country music. The album features Laine's signature rich vocals and heartfelt lyrics, backed by a solid band of talented musicians. The songs on this album range from upbeat and toe-tapping, such as "Chattanooga Shoe Shine Boy," to slow and soulful, like "Jezebel." Laine's ability to convey emotion through his voice is particularly evident on tracks like "Rain, Rain, Rain" and "Mule Train." N2 is a timeless collection of country hits that showcases Laine's impressive range and artistry.

This might well have been the B side to "The Thief" (with which I am not familiar) in the States but in the UK it was definitely released on the Phillips label and was I think the B side to Frankie's 1954 hit "My Friend". I feel that Frankie's fabulous voice was at it's peak around this period in the middle 50s. I never tire of listening to his records. He really was truly one of the utterly supreme all time greats of popular music and completely irreplaceable.
