Review by Patrick Bruckart

The album Joséphine Naboyi Ye by Franco Et L' Orchestre OK Jazz is a masterpiece of Congolese rumba music. Released in 1983, the album features the legendary guitarist Franco Luambo Makiadi and his band, who were at the peak of their creative powers. The album is named after one of the songs, which is a tribute to Franco's wife Josephine.

The album is a perfect showcase of Franco's virtuosity as a guitarist and bandleader. The songs are characterized by intricate guitar lines, complex rhythms, and catchy melodies. The band's tight and precise playing creates a rich and vibrant sound that is both danceable and emotional.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Likambo Ya Ngana," which features a beautiful guitar solo by Franco and a haunting vocal performance by the band's lead singer, Josky Kiambukuta. Another notable track is "Christine," a romantic ballad that showcases Franco's ability to create memorable melodies.
