Born May 2, 1936, Madras, India. Having moved to the UK with his family after the war, he started recording and touring as at 17 years old, but enjoyed his greatest success in the late 1960's after adopting the considerably more memorable name of a deceased German opera composer. He continues to tour and record to this day.

Many covers made by Engelbert H. originate in Italy ... and this song has the original version in Italy ... the song was composed and performed by a veteran of Italian pop music, named Tony Renis, and the original title is' Frin, frin, frin "(1967) ....... another cover of Engelbert has the original version sung by Tony Renis, song" Quando, quando, quando "(1962) ...unfortunately the sound quality in this clip is very poor ....

"There's an Island" is from the 1971 LP "Another Time, Another Place". It was never issued as a single and is only available on this long out of print LP. I do have it and will be more than happy to post it for you in the near future. Take care.
I was wondering if you had the song "There's an island in the sun". I can't find this song by Engelbert anywhere and am desperate to listen to it again. It was one of his early 70 songs but a big hit on our local radio. Don't know if it hit the charts, but its a great song.
