Lyvv China Doll is an album by English musician and poet Edward KaSpel, released in 2019. The album features KaSpel's signature blend of experimental electronic music and spoken word poetry, with a focus on themes of love, loss, and the human condition.
The album opens with the hauntingly beautiful "A Long Walk Home", which sets the tone for the rest of the album. KaSpel's poetic lyrics are accompanied by a sparse, atmospheric arrangement of electronic drones and ethereal vocals.
Throughout the album, KaSpel explores a range of emotions and experiences, from the melancholic "The Sadness of Things" to the surreal "The Ghost of Something Small". His lyrics are often cryptic and abstract, but they are always deeply felt and evocative.
One of the standout tracks on the album is "The Leper's Companion", which features a hypnotic, repetitive melody and a haunting spoken-word performance from KaSpel. The song builds to a climax of distorted guitars and crashing drums, creating a sense of tension and release.

Notes
- A collection of the studio material from the original Lyvv China Doll cassette plus other "experiments" and outtakes.
- The original intention was a simple live document, but as I compiled the original "Lyvv" cassette that object became obscured. Ultimately only half of the material was live, and it featured much previously unheard work. For the compact disc, only "The Horn Section" is live, while a number of sketches and small pieces have been inserted. Recordings cover the period 1982-1992, so do be patient with the occasional dubious sound quality. A big thank to you [sic] Phil, Ignit, Patrick, Lady Sunshine, Hero and Elke who all played their part in these recordings.
- The track indexing on the CD is in error. The times for the first two tracks should be 3:55 and 4:57, respectively. These times closely match the times for those respective tracks on the cassette edition.
- Packaged in a plastic bag with double-sided color insert of collage artwork, plus a double-sided b&w insert with live pictures and text, and a single-sided b&w insert with selected lyrics.
- Limited, numbered edition of 834 copies.
- The original intention was a simple live document…but, ultimately, that's as unsatisfying for me as it is for the listener. Hence, Lyvv features previously unheard pieces like 'When Old Gods Die', Tower 8 RETITLED of course for 'contractual' reasons as well as obscure oddities like 'Pretty Ribbons' and 'Corridors of Deceit'. Pieces I like but could never find the right place for. This K7 also documents the first performance under the banner 'Edward Ka-Spel / d'archangel' in Deventer, Holland back in 1985 with Ignit on keyboards.

Edward Ka-Spel is an English singer, songwriter and musician, born in London January 23, 1954. He is probably best known as the lead singer, songwriter and co-founder (with Phil The Silverman Knight) of the prolific underground band The Legendary Pink Dots.
