Del Amitri - Change Everything

Review by Gregg Sanchez

Change Everything, the fourth studio album by the Scottish rock band Del Amitri, showcases the band's ability to deliver emotionally charged lyrics set to catchy melodies. Released in 1992, the album features 12 tracks that explore themes of heartbreak, loss, and hope.

The album's lead single, "Always the Last to Know," is a standout track that captures the pain of a relationship coming to an end. With its memorable chorus and guitar-driven sound, the song became a hit and remains a fan favorite to this day.

Other standout tracks on the album include "Be My Downfall," a melancholic ballad about the dangers of falling in love, and "Just Like a Man," a rollicking rocker that showcases the band's playful side.

Throughout the album, lead singer Justin Currie's distinctive voice shines, conveying the raw emotions of the lyrics with authenticity and vulnerability. The band's tight musicianship and knack for writing catchy hooks make Change Everything a must-listen for fans of '90s alternative rock.

Change Everything is a fantastic album! One that shaped my youth and my musical taste... I've purchased the CD on 3 separate occasions, now I'm digital so no skips. The deluxe version almost brought me to tears, hearing songs that are at least new to me is a huge treat. My highlight of the 2nd disc is Whiskey Remorse.

This song, even though very well in the alternative genre, is one that I like. The selling factor, at least for me, is the vocals. Combined with the bass, the outcome is a very enjoyable piece of music.

When it comes to percussion-based music, I prefer songs like "Never There" by Cake.

Be my great regret
Every song on this album was masterful - which, in my view, was Del Amitri's finest. This song sits in a special place in my heart.
