Review by Jonathan Rochat

The Gardens Of Harlem is a stunning album by Clifford Thornton & The Jazz Composer's Orchestra that showcases the talents of some of the most accomplished musicians in the jazz world. The album is a tribute to the rich cultural heritage of Harlem, the legendary neighborhood in New York City that has been home to many of the world's greatest jazz artists.

The album features a mix of original compositions by Thornton as well as some classic jazz standards that have been reimagined with a contemporary twist. The musicians on the album are all top-notch, and their performances are both technically impressive and emotionally stirring.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "The Gardens Of Harlem," a hauntingly beautiful composition that showcases Thornton's skills as a composer and arranger. The track features a lush, orchestral sound that is both grand and intimate at the same time. The musicians bring a sense of passion and intensity to the track that is truly captivating.

Another standout track is "Brotherhood," which features a driving rhythm section and a soaring horn section. The track is both powerful and uplifting, and it showcases the sense of community and solidarity that is at the heart of the jazz tradition.
