Review by Kathylee Forrester

ArbataxIstanbul by Claudio Rocchetti is an album that blends elements of experimental music and traditional Turkish sounds. The album is a journey through different soundscapes that explore the intersection between the two cultures.

The album opens with "Aegean," a track that features a haunting melody played on a traditional Turkish instrument, the saz. The track is layered with electronic sounds and field recordings, creating a dreamlike atmosphere that sets the tone for the rest of the album.

The album continues with tracks like "Istanbul" and "Kapadokya," which feature more traditional Turkish sounds mixed with electronic elements. These tracks showcase Rocchetti's ability to blend different sounds and create a unique sonic landscape.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Cappadocia," which features a rhythmic beat and a hypnotic melody played on a traditional Turkish instrument. The track builds to a climax with layers of electronic sounds, creating a sense of tension and release.

About Claudio Rocchetti

Born in Bolzano (Italy) in 1978. After experiencing the straight-edge hardcore scene, he began exploring the many realms of noise. Rocchetti is now working on the composition of cinematic musical landscapes with the aid of old rare records, dusty analogue instruments as source material (old radios, customized turntables, grammophones...).
