Review by Margaret Jacobson

Charlie Spivak And His Orchestra's album, "You Were Meant for Me Ive Been a Good Girl," is an impressive collection of smooth, romantic tunes that transport listeners back to a bygone era of big band jazz. The album features Spivak's signature trumpet playing, which is both technically impressive and emotionally evocative.

The arrangements on the album are masterfully crafted, showcasing the talents of the entire orchestra. The rhythm section keeps things swinging, while the horn section adds depth and texture to each track. The vocal performances are also noteworthy, with the singers adding a touch of sweetness and charm to the already delightful melodies.

One standout track is the title song, "You Were Meant for Me," which features a beautiful trumpet solo from Spivak and a lovely vocal performance from Garry Stevens. The track is a perfect example of the album's overall sound and vibe, and it's sure to leave listeners feeling warm and fuzzy inside.

About Charlie Spivak And His Orchestra

Trumpet player Charlie Spivak set up his own big band with the help of close friend Glenn Miller in Washington D.C. in 1940. His tag line (bestowed upon him by Miller himself) was "The Man who Plays the Sweetest Trumpet in the World". He featured arrangements by trombonist Nelson Riddle and by former band leader Sonny Burke. The band's theme song was "Star Dreams" and ballads were what the band did best.
