Carfax Abbey - Big Screen

Review by William Rust

Carfax Abbey's latest album, Big Screen, is a tour de force of cinematic soundscapes and driving rhythms. From the opening track "Cinematic" to the epic "End Credits," the band takes listeners on a journey through a sonic landscape that evokes the grandeur and drama of classic films.

The album's standout tracks include "The Chase," a propulsive, synth-driven track that builds to a thrilling climax, and "Escape from the City," a moody, atmospheric piece that conjures up images of a dystopian future. Other highlights include "The Heist," a funky, bass-heavy track that wouldn't be out of place in a heist movie, and "The Final Showdown," a bombastic, guitar-driven track that would be perfect for a climactic battle scene.

Throughout the album, Carfax Abbey's musicianship is top-notch, with tight, precise playing and a keen sense of dynamics. The production is also excellent, with a rich, full sound that allows every instrument to shine.
