Review by Percy Avendaño G.

The collaborative album "Untitled" by Béla Bartók and Arnold Schoenberg is a masterpiece that showcases the creative genius of these two 20th century composers. The album features a collection of works that blend together the unique styles and techniques of both composers, resulting in a truly unique and captivating listening experience.

The album opens with Bartók's "String Quartet No. 4," a complex and dynamic piece that showcases the composer's innovative use of folk melodies and harmonies. The quartet is followed by Schoenberg's "Suite for Piano," a haunting and introspective work that showcases the composer's mastery of atonal composition.

The album continues with Bartók's "Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta," a stunning piece that combines elements of folk music with modernist techniques. The album concludes with Schoenberg's "Pierrot Lunaire," a groundbreaking work that uses sprechstimme (a vocal technique that blends speaking and singing) to create a haunting and surreal atmosphere.

Born: 1881-03-25 (Nagyszentmiklós, Magyar Királyság). Died: September 26, 1945 (New York, New York, United States). Béla Viktor János Bartók was a Hungarian composer, pianist, ethnomusicologist and collector of Eastern European and Middle Eastern folk music (born 25/03/1881 in Nagyszentmiklós, today Sânnicolau Mare, Romania - died 25/09/1945 in New York, U.S.A). He is considered one of the greatest composers of the twentieth century; his vast production reveals a daring and restless harmonic instinct that is affected by his passionate studies on Hungarian folk songs. Typical elements of Béla Bartók style (derived from Hungarian, Transylvanian and Romanian folklore) consists in the use of irregular rhythms and a clear preference for obsessive rhythms. His compositions have sonorities, sometimes abstract, but often harsh, rough and barbaric. Married to the pianist . His 2nd son, became a recording engineer.
