Blue Cheer - Outsideinside

Review by @ Ruiva

Outsideinside, the second album by American rock band Blue Cheer, is a true masterpiece of heavy psychedelic rock. Released in 1968, the album features ten tracks of pure, unadulterated rock and roll, with driving rhythms, blistering guitar solos, and powerful vocals.

From the opening track, "Feathers from Your Tree," to the closing song, "Come and Get It," the album is a non-stop barrage of heavy riffs and thunderous drums. The band's signature sound, characterized by their use of fuzz and distortion pedals, is in full force throughout the album, creating a wall of sound that is both raw and powerful.

While some of the tracks, such as "Sun Cycle" and "Just a Little Bit," are more straightforward rockers, others, like "The Hunter" and "Magnolia Caboose Babyfinger," showcase the band's more experimental side. The latter track, in particular, is a standout, with its haunting vocals and eerie, almost psychedelic guitar work.

U.S. American rock band, established in 1966 in San Francisco. Considered by some commentators to be the first heavy metal band, with particular reference to their version of "Summertime Blues." Blue Cheer was the name of a popular laundry detergent at the time, and also a variety of potent LSD.

This band was clearly not a one shot wonder if you heard their catalogue. This album in particular, has a more polished sound than the debut as the main review stated. It sounds just as good as the debut and the difference was no massive hit single. "Just A Little Bit"/"Feathers From Your Tree" didn't do anything as the single (which goes to show if you have a massive hit, everyone will at least check out the album). If you like the debut album, then this one is a no brainer.
