Review by Neal Oates

Jackie Opel's album "I Am What I Am" is a timeless masterpiece that showcases the legendary singer's incredible range and versatility. From the upbeat ska rhythms of "Push Wood" to the soulful balladry of "Eternal Love," Opel's voice soars with passion and conviction on every track.

The album opens with the infectious title track, which sets the tone for the rest of the record with its catchy melody and confident lyrics. "Cry Me a River" is another standout, with Opel's voice blending seamlessly with the jazzy instrumentation.

One of the album's highlights is "You're No Good," a scorching rocksteady number that showcases Opel's ability to channel raw emotion into his music. The album also features several covers of classic songs, including "I Put a Spell on You" and "The Tide Is High," both of which are given new life by Opel's unique interpretation.
