About Blancmange
British synth-pop duo formed in London 1979 and consisting of Neil Arthur & Stephen Luscombe. They had a string of hits through the early to mid 1980s with songs such as "Blind Vision," "Don't Tell Me," "Living On The Ceiling," "Lose Your Love," "That's Love, That It Is" and "Waves."
The band found their popularity waning by the mid-80's, and with the poor performance of their third album "Believe You Me," they initially split in 1986. They did eventually reform in 2006 and released a new album of original material in 2011, titled "Blanc Burn." Luscombe left following the release due to ill health, and since then Arthur alone has continued to perform under the Blancmange name.

Living on the ceiling was great
Ah, memories. I was a teenager in California when this came out. There was a radio station that played several hours of New Wave music (it was new back then) once a week as a special. I was hooked and I loved this song. And even now, the lyrics are still imprinted on my brain. This song is shift x brilliant and should have been up there with Depeche Mode and Pet Shop Boys mainstream radio back then. The world just didn't get it. And now, on oldies stations playing 80's music, you hardly even hear D.M. or P.S.B. and you will never hear this song. It's wonderful to still be able to hear this.
Didn't make radio 1 playlist. Great song.
It's strange that they didn't get the recognition that they deserved.
Such a great duo, so underrated; listened to Believe You Me recently, they were like a Lancastrian Talking Heads!
I saw Blancmange a few times in the 80's, great band. On one occasion the support was Robert Marlowe who was produced by Vince Clarke
I'd forgotten about this track since it was first released, until a year or so ago
Fantastic song. One of the best of the 80's and completely underrated. And the video is hilarious.
Another contender for my fave from them. A mad mans poison is another mans food..Brilliant.
One of the great early synthpop tunes from the most underrated combos of the era. Blancmange were just geniuses that never got recognised
?
I listened to this song as a kid and I loved it!
Love Blancmange...original, quirky and short lived. IMO Erasure ripped this tune off with - Victim Of Love.
I remember when this album came out. It was always in my Walkman, but the critics just didn't get it. They didn't get most of the records I liked! Here we had this video, somewhere among Monty Python, They Might Be Giants, and Salvador Dali...and a terminated record contract!
Amazing song!!! Thank you very much. I remember this song and i always liked it.
A song that should have been a much bigger hit than it was and such a mad video!
When this launched, clubs and dancefloors couldn't use it. Instead it became the song you relaxed to once you stopped dancing
Saw Blancmange last night in Islington. Fantastic
Brilliant
A hidden electronic gem

The highlight of the 80s for me. I saw them at the Barracuda Club in Toronto 1980s.. I saw the word.
