Blackfish - Train Of Thoughts

Maximilian Lopp has been active in producing electronic music since 1992. After getting in touch with Amiga 500 and Toy-Keyboards from his parents, Maximilian started his musical life with producing Hip-Hop-Beats for local crews in the Frankfurt region. He focused his musical skills on trip-hop and instrumental hip-hop during this experimental period as well. Luckily for him the mid-nineties saw the awakening of Drum'n'bass in earnest. Maximilian developed his own approach to electronic music by primarily mixing elements of these directions. In 1999 Maximilian Lopp formed the electronic music project blackfish. His first release was the tune Apartfrom on a compilation named Inside 2, beside other tunes from Brian Eno and J. Peter Schwalm. This was the time when Maximilian sent out many demos and he quickly found a label, releasing more blackfish tunes  up to an album at least. The result is today a real classic work: The album Pole Navigation which was actually published in 2001. The music can best be described as atmospheric, organic, electronic downtempo music with a slightly jazz flavor. Maximilian wanted to develop his musical productions more and more and started collaborations with other artists and musicians. A big project was the transformation of the electronic sounds of Pole Navigation into a live set with acoustic instruments. During this time, he met Andreas Baßermann, with whom he decided to produce the second blackfish album. Additional to the blackfish project, they both formed a new music project named Attic Tree. With Attic Tree they had many big releases and did additional collaborations with many other musicians and artists. The music of Attic Tree got influences by Nu Jazz, Bossa Nova and Downbeat with atmospheric elements. In 2007 Maximilians tune Round the block was featured in german cine film Chiko (a Fatih Akin production with German star actor Moritz Bleibtreu). This movie was presented at the Berlinale 2008 and enjoyed highest reputation. Beside his own music productions, Maximilian started his own digital label blackfish productions in 2006 and started releasing music from other artists as well.
