Review by Kate Jones

At The Drive In's "Live In Tokyo Japan January 18 2001" is a raw and energetic live album that captures the band at the height of their powers. Recorded during their tour in support of their seminal album "Relationship of Command," this album features blistering performances of fan favorites like "One Armed Scissor" and "Invalid Litter Dept."

The album is a testament to the band's dynamic live presence, with the interplay between Cedric Bixler-Zavala's frenzied vocals and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez's intricate guitar work taking center stage. The rhythm section of Jim Ward, Paul Hinojos, and Tony Hajjar also shines, providing a solid foundation for the band's explosive sound.

The production quality of the album is top-notch, with each instrument and vocal track clearly defined in the mix. The crowd's enthusiasm is palpable throughout, adding to the electric atmosphere of the performance.

About At The Drive In

Band from El Paso, TX, formed in 1993. Flipside Records released the band's first full-length Acrobatic Tenement in early 1997. Soon after that recording, their lineup secured around Cedric Bixler (vocals), Omar Rodriguez and Jim Ward (guitars), Paul Hinojos (bass) and Tony Hajjar (drums). After the band went on indefinite hiatus in 2001, Bixler and Rodriguez formed the Mars Volta, while Ward, Hajjar, and Hinojos moved on to Sparta. However, on January 9, 2012, At the Drive-In announced a reunion. In 2016 Jim Ward left the band and was replaced by Sparta guitarist Keeley Davis Current Line-Up:- (19932001, 2012present) Vocals (2016-present) Guitar (1996) Bass (19972001, 2012present) Guitar (19972001, 2012present) Bass (19972001, 2012present) Drums Past Members:- (1993-1995) Guitar (1996) Guitar (1997) Guitar (1993-1995) Bass (1993-1994) Drums (1995) Drums (1996) Drums (19932001, 20122016) Guitar
