Astor Piazzolla - Original Tangos From Argentina

johnmassie

Review by John Massie

Astor Piazzolla's album Original Tangos From Argentina is a masterpiece that showcases the composer's unique blend of traditional Argentine tango with contemporary jazz and classical music. The album is a collection of 12 original compositions, each one a work of art that captures the essence of Argentine culture and history.

From the opening track, "La Camorra," to the closing "Fuga Y Misterio," the album takes listeners on a journey through the different moods and emotions of tango music. The arrangements are complex and sophisticated, with intricate rhythms and harmonies that challenge the listener's ear.

Piazzolla's virtuosity on the bandoneon, a traditional Argentine accordion, is evident throughout the album, and his compositions are brought to life by the skillful performances of his ensemble. The interplay between the bandoneon, piano, violin, and bass is a joy to behold, and the musicians' passion for the music is palpable.
